Description:

This course provides a review of damage assessment, the importance of providing quick and accurate assessments, and an opportunity to review and practice with tools to assist in conducting damage assessments. The course also reviews various disaster damage assessment processes, collaborating agencies, and resources. Participants will compare and contrast damage assessment tools in order to ensure that resources are in place for an adequate response, followed by a hands-on exercise using various tools and software to collect damage assessments.

Prerequisites:

This course does not require any previous subject matter knowledge. However, it is highly suggested that participants complete the following FEMA Independent Study courses prior to course attendance:

  • IS-100.b: Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS100)
  • IS-200.b: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
  • IS-700.a: National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
  • IS-559: Local Damage Assessment

This course is being held post conference to the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Conference. The course is open to both conference attendees and NON-conference attendees. For registration, please follow the below listed instructions.

If you are an IAEM member, click the word “here” to log in using your username and password. Non-members proceed to Primary Registrant Information section.
Complete the registrant information
If you are attending the IAEM-USA Annual Conference, complete the first page entirely, click “Continue Registration”, on the next page, Click on “add/edit events for your registration”, select the training course, tour or event you wish to attend by putting a 1 in the ticket column.
To complete your registration, Click “Save Changes”. Verify this new page is correct. Click “Continue Registration” to make payment and then click on “Submit Registration” at the bottom of the page. You will receive a registration number on your screen and can select “email confirmation” to receive a registration confirmation by email.
If you are ONLY attending a pre/post conference training course or event, on the first page of the registration, select the registration type “Pre-Conference Session OR Optional Event Only (Registrant not attending conference)”, click “Continue Registration”, on the next page, Click on “add/edit events for your registration”, select pre/post conference training course or event by putting a 1 in the ticket column.
