Help Us Complete the Emergency Management Playbook!

The WSP USA Solutions team, under National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 20-116, is developing “An Emergency Management Playbook for Transportation Agencies”. This research effort is sponsored collectively by the Departments of Transportation in all 50 states, and supported by the AASHTO Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience (CTSSR) in particular.

As part of this project, we are sending a questionnaire to DOT, transit agency, other modal and state emergency managers, and Metropolitan Planning Organizations to understand current emergency management practices and organizational structures.

Recognizing that you receive many inquiries like this and that they can take up a lot of your time, the survey has been streamlined and should only take 10 minutes to complete. It includes interactive ranking activities, multiple choice responses including indications of capability maturities, and a few open-ended questions (such as describing agency successes in response) to provide important insights and inform the development of the Playbook.

We realize that the success of this project depends on your input. The goal of this project is to develop a very accessible, strategy-driven, actionable guide/playbook and associated training for transportation Emergency Managers and staff including diverse agency roles that will be called upon to support emergency events.

We sincerely appreciate your efforts in sharing your experience with your peers and others who can benefit from it. The survey has been extended until November 9, but we’ll greatly appreciate earlier responses.

Please click on the link below to begin the survey. We also encourage you to share the survey with interested colleagues who can provide additional agency perspectives.
