Kentucky Flood Clean Up
Dr. Julia Crowley, once a graduate research assistant at the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, is now an Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Science and Engineering and has been working to educate and work with governments on disaster preparedness. Recently interviewed after the massive flooding in Kentucky, she said lining up contracts ahead of time takes the pressure off when disaster strikes, so governments aren’t negotiating massive contracts under rushed, emergency conditions.
