NDPTC to participate in the National Congress for American Indians 72nd Annual Convention and Marketplace

Posted on Sept. 10, 2015

The National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC) will be participating in the National Congress for American Indians 72nd Annual Convention and Marketplace from October 18-23, 2015.

NDPTC along with a few other National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) members will each engage in the conference tradeshow. Over the course of the six day conference the NDPC will host two sessions.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2015 (6:00 pm-7:00 pm) the members of the NDPC will hold a one hour panel discussion for conference attendees. The discussion will introduce the consortium to the attendees, outlining the various FEMA certified training courses and other resources available through the consortium. In addition, each member will highlight the specific disaster training focuses of their training center and the processes for scheduling training in a specific area. The collaborative discussion  will hopefully facilitate supportive dialog with the conference attendees regarding the specific needs of the Tribal Nations’ and how the NDPC can best assist to address those needs.

On Friday, October 22, 2015 (1:00pm-5:00pm), NDPTC will host a delivery of AWR-310 Natural Disaster Awareness for Community Leaders. The four hour course will enhance understanding of natural disasters, risk assessment in the context of disaster management, prevailing emergency management procedures and operations, and the different vulnerability factors that exist within their local community. Also, the course will provide Tribal Nations' community leaders with an understanding of the necessary plans and tools needed in planning for an actual disaster.
