Download and use the AlohaSafe Alert App

NDPTC supports the State of Hawaii in its efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Hawaii.

On Aug 5, Hawaii recorded its highest single-day COVID-19 case count since the beginning of the pandemic and numbers have remained high since then. It is now more important than ever for all of us to use every tool at our disposal to stop the spread of COVID-19.

If you have not done so already, we strongly encourage you to download the AlohaSafe Alert app on your smartphone. For those with iPhones, you can also enable Exposure Notifications in your Settings without even downloading the app. Please encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to use AlohaSafe Alert too. https://www.alohasafealert.org/

AlohaSafe Alert is Hawaiʻi’s official COVID-19 exposure notification app and has over one million activations. It works by using Bluetooth technology to estimate the distance between smartphones. If a user tests positive for COVID-19, they will receive a secure code from the Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH). When the user uploads that code, the system will send an anonymous message to any close contacts – individuals within six feet for at least 15 minutes over the last 14 days – of the individual who tested positive for the virus.

More than 600 people have already used the app to anonymously report their COVID-19 infection and inform others of their risk.

The AlohaSafe Alert app is one of many tools – including getting the vaccine, wearing masks and practicing social distancing – that we can use to stop the spread of the virus.
