A Pre-event of the World Tsunami Awareness Day

The University of Hawaii, College of Social Sciences (CSS) is hosting a free Communicating Disaster Science conference, a pre-event to the first World Tsunami Awareness Day, on Friday, September 16. Local and international experts will gather to discuss the most recent advances in tsunami research, risk reduction and community preparedness. Research on the 2011 Japan tsunami has already changed the way that Hawai‘i prepares for natural disasters. It also identifies the threat to the islands from Aleutian Island earthquakes.
